Casper Video Project
Georgia Tech – October 24, 2021
I was commissioned by a group of Georgia Tech industrial design students to create a promotional video for their innovative project: a Schrodinger’s box they coined “Casper.” The unique aspect of their design was its motion sensor, causing the box to open when people moved past it, evoking an eerie sense of interaction as though something might be inside.
For the video, I wanted to emphasize this suspenseful quality. I framed the narrative around the idea that the students were initially unaware of the box’s capabilities until it started responding to their movements. This concept allowed me to explore a darker, more unsettling tone in the edit, which enhanced the mystique of the product.
Through collaboration, I worked closely with the students to ensure the video highlighted both the functionality and the mysterious aura of Casper. The final result was an intriguing showcase of design innovation with an unsettling twist, engaging the viewer in the same way the box engaged with its surroundings.
