Director Nigel Kim reached out for font help on his short film “Made with Love,” a deeply personal story about love, grief, and Korean food. I ended up taking on the full poster design.

I chose handmade brush fonts to give the English text a human, imperfect feel. Korean fonts are very limited in the US, so I adapted what I could find and custom-built a brush script to match the English. To make both scripts feel cohesive, I pulled elements from the English font and applied them to the Korean characters.

The color palette came from Nigel’s initial vision, using key colors from the film. I adjusted them to work better with the food photography and added a concrete texture to the typography for a more lived-in feel. I also edited the original photos to bring out the colors in the food.
